Haroldo Jacobovicz – The Brazilian Entrepreneur who changed the business Industry
Haroldo Jacobovicz has been active in the investment community since the early 1990s. He was the founder and partner of the Santiago de Chile-based private equity firm, Ico Partners. He also served as a director at several institutional funds, including at the helm of the Brazil Fund Managers Association. After several stints in the private sector, Jacobovicz returned to academia in 2013 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to pursue a doctorate in Computer Science. In his post-doctoral studies, he developed a novel approach to large-scale analytics. Jacobovicz started his career as a civil engineer in Curitiba, where he worked on various large-scale infrastructure projects. He later co-founded a software company that focused on designing and implementing software for energy, transportation, and other industries. In the early 2000s, Haroldo Jacobovicz diversified his assets by establishing a second company that focused on designing and implementing smart contracts. The Brazilian investor is also interested in investing in technology start-ups for several other reasons.
His main focus is on health and education, two areas he believes are in dire need of investments. The investor is also a co-founder of the Brazil Tech Summit, a bi-annual gathering where tech entrepreneurs connect with investors and other relevant stakeholders.
He has been active in developing several start-ups in Internet and software development and the fields of data and communications, construction, and restaurants. Currently, he is developing several start-ups in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, e-commerce, and software development. He is also a promoter of the Lean Start-up movement, which is part of the creation of the Brazil Tech Summit.

Haroldo Jacobovicz is also interested in sustainable development and works with local communities to improve the environment. He established a non-for-profit organization called School of the Future, where he helps build schools in developing countries. Haroldo Jacobovicz works on various social issues such as organic farming, sustainable development, and animal welfare in his spare time. Haroldo is a partner at the Brazilian firm NGP Capital, active in health and technology. He is also the co-founder of the Curitiba-based investment firm Global Capital, which focuses on the health and technology fields.
