Robert Kraft Discusses His Ambitions For The 2026 Soccer World Cup

Robert Kraft is one of the most formidable United States sports industry investors. He owns two notable sports franchises, the New England Patriots, playing in the NFL, and the New England Revolutions, playing on the MLS. During a recent interview, Kraft discussed his ambitions for the 2026 Soccer World Cup, which the United States, Mexico, and Canada, were selected to host jointly.

Bring matches to Gillette Stadium

This iconic sports investor mentioned that going forward, he will put his attention on bringing some matches to Gillette Stadium, home to the Patriots. He said that although the spots for hosting a World Cup match will be limited for the 2026 event as three countries are involved, he believes he can pull it off. This is because the last time the soccer World Cup was played in the United States in 1994, he was able to pull this off, bringing four matches to the Patriots’ former stadium, Foxboro Stadium. Robert Kraft stated that, therefore, he knows what he needs to do to win again this time.

Maintaining one of “the most excellent ballparks” in the US

Robert Kraft said that soon after Gillette Stadium opened in 2000, it rapidly gained notoriety as one of “the best ballparks” in the US for its ultra-modernity. However, several competing stadiums have been launched since. He pointed out that he hopes that the renovations he will be undertaking on the stadium to attract the World Cup would help it maintain its fame and recognition.
